Residential Home Projects during Summer

Summer is quickly approaching, and with the longer days and warmer temperatures, it’s the perfect time to tackle all the DIY projects you’ve been wanting to do around the house. While larger, more complex projects will of course require a residential architect, there are plenty of home projects you can do on your own while enjoying the summer sunshine. And many of them are projects that your whole family can do together.

Re-paint the exterior of your home

Did you know that adding a fresh coat of paint to the exterior of your house can increase its value? Head to your local paint store where you’ll find high-quality paints and all the supplies you need to get the job done. If the trim around your windows, doorways, and other areas need touching up, this is a great opportunity to do that as well.

Redesign your landscaping

It’s no secret that plants, shrubs, trees, and flowers add a special something to your property. It’s often the first thing people notice when they approach your home, and well-maintained landscaping adds to the value of your home. Gardening and landscape design is a great way to spend your summer weekends, and it’s something the whole family can enjoy together.

Upgrade your windows

It’s not something most homeowners think about. Does your home still have the same windows as when you first moved in? Summer is the perfect time to invest in new windows that keep street noise out while keeping cool air in. Window technology has advanced a lot and you can even opt for windows that provide UV-ray protection.

Install new light fixtures

Unique light fixtures are a great way to add a bit of personality to your rooms. As long as the light bulbs work it can be easy to forget about the fixtures, but you’ll be surprised at what a big difference new light fixtures make! You can let your kids choose their own for their rooms, and try some more modern styles for your kitchen and living room.

Residential architecture design and more

It’s one thing to take on a few home DIY projects like painting and gardening, but if you have bigger ambitions for home renovations then we recommend working with a residential architect. Whether you want a new garage, to add an extension onto your home, or are considering building a swimming pool, an architect will help you understand what’s possible with your property and your budget.
